Qi Men Dun Jia : Le Manuel !
-

Qi Men Dun Jia — The Manual
The Art of the Hidden Gates, finally brought together in a single volume
Qi Men Dun Jia (奇門遁甲) is one of the three great divinatory and strategic arts of the Chinese tradition. For a long time, it was reserved for generals and court advisers. It is used to interpret the present moment, to choose the right time and direction, to assess a location and to understand one’s destiny. Its richness has a downside: the stars, gates, deities, stems, palaces and structures form a dense body of knowledge, often scattered across different media and in several languages.
This manual addresses this problem. It brings together in a single volume of over 400 pages, in French, the complete curriculum of Serge Augier’s course (Ba Men Da Xuan), from the first to the sixth year.
What the manual contains
- Part I — Foundations and Components: the Trunks, the eight Gates, the nine Stars, the Ba Shen, the basics of interpretation and the construction of the chart.
- Part II — Representations and Narrative: the Yong Shen, the story of Jia and the Fa Qi Men.
- Part III — Structures and Formations: the Three Precious, the Three Noble, the False, the structures of the celestial stems and their dozens of combinations.
- Part IV — Detailed Interpretation: the relationships between aspects, the nullifiers, the host and the guest, the major areas of inquiry, the Three Victories.
- Part V — Feng Shui: constructing a site chart and reading it room by room, with the eighty stem–gate combinations for each of the eleven rooms.
- Part VI — The Mandate of Heaven: analysis of destiny, covering family, wealth, career, marriage and classical formulas.
- Appendices: a glossary in Pinyin, Chinese and French, and summary tables.
The 169 figures from the course are retained, numbered and captioned.
Why this handbook is useful
It brings order. Each concept is explained once, in its proper place, and then referred to subsequently. The reader follows a clear progression, from the first chart to the analysis of destiny, without repetition or having to flip back and forth between scattered documents.
It serves as a reference work. The table of contents is clickable, the chapters are numbered and the tables are easy to consult. You can find the meaning of a combination, a door in a room or a formula from the Celestial Mandate in a matter of seconds, whether during a consultation or whilst studying.
It is comprehensive. The manual retains all the information from the course: definitions, examples, warnings and the teacher’s nuances. The layout has been reorganised for clarity, but the content has been retained in its entirety.
What makes it valuable
Faithfulness to the source. The structure of the Daxuan School’s course is respected, as are its logic and pedagogical progression. The textbook is a working tool designed to support this teaching, not a personal rewriting.
Consistent terminology. The names of the gates, stars, deities and structures remain the same throughout, with their Chinese and Pinyin equivalents. This is essential for learning without confusion.
