The Daxuan School’s curriculum, compiled into a single volume

Feng Shui (風水, ‘wind and water’) is the Chinese art of studying a place. It seeks to understand how Qi flows within it, how it supports or hinders those who live there, and how to act to restore harmony. Classical Feng Shui has nothing to do with interior design or lucky charms. It requires specific tools: the Luo Pan, the interpretation of landforms, formulas and the calculation of time. There are numerous schools and techniques, and they all interlock.

This handbook brings together in a single 314-page volume, in French, the complete curriculum of Serge Augier’s Feng Shui course (Ba Men Da Xuan), from the first to the fifth year. It faithfully follows the order of the lessons.

A new edition, focused on teaching

This new version is entirely structured around Serge Augier’s course. It does not cite any other authors nor refer to any other sources. Useful supplementary explanations have been retained, but they are incorporated without external references into ‘Supplement’ boxes that extend the course without interrupting it.

The reader thus holds in their hands a cohesive work that speaks with a single voice: that of the course they are following.

      What the manual contains

      • Part I — Foundations, Ba Zhai and Flying Stars: the San He and San Yuan schools, the Luan Tou and Li Qi techniques, the Luo Pan, the Luo Shu, the Ming Gua, the main gate, the eight mansions, the first Flying Stars and the complete method for studying Feng Shui.
      • Part II — Combinations, Diagnosis, Na Yin and Formulas: the 81 combinations of flying stars, room-by-room analysis, Na Jia, diagnosis and solutions, Na Yin, the Five Ghosts that bear the treasure and the eight killing forces.
      • Part III — Luo Pan, San He Formulas and Periods: the Luo Pan San He, the eight paths of destruction, peach blossom water, the paths of the three harmonies, rapid assessment, the nine periods and the forms of the earth.
      • Part IV — Xuan Kong Fei Xing: the 81 combinations, studied star by star along with their hexagrams.
      • Part V — Advanced Formations: the pure elements, the pure stars, unblocking production, the combination of 10, and the Purple and White Text (year, month, floor, door).
      • Appendices: a glossary in Pinyin, Chinese and French.

The 72 diagrams from the course are included, numbered and captioned.

      Why this manual is useful

It brings order. Each concept is explained once, in its proper place, and then referred to subsequently. You can follow the progression of the course, from the basics to advanced training, without repetition or having to flip back and forth between scattered documents.

It links the techniques together. Classical Feng Shui combines several systems: forms, the Eight Mansions, the Flying Stars, the San He formulas and the cycles of time. The handbook shows how they combine, particularly in the summaries and in the method for analysing a site. It is this connection that enables the transition from theory to the analysis of a real house.

It serves as a reference work. The table of contents is clickable, the chapters are numbered and the tables are easy to consult. In a matter of seconds, you can find the meaning of a star combination, how to interpret a sector or a San He formula, whether whilst studying a house or revising.

It is comprehensive. The handbook retains all the information from the course: definitions, examples, tables, warnings and the teacher’s insights. The layout has been reorganised for clarity, but nothing has been omitted from the content.

      What makes it valuable

Faithfulness to the teaching. The structure, order and progression of Serge Augier’s courses are faithfully reproduced. The textbook is a working tool designed to support this teaching, not a personal rewriting.

A consistent reading experience. As no external sources are cited, the text remains focused on the course. Supplementary material enriches the subject matter without distracting the reader, and remains visually distinct from the course content itself.

Honesty towards the text. Where two explanations differ, or where a passage in the course is unclear or contains an error, the textbook highlights this in an ‘Attention’ box rather than silently taking a side.

Consistent terminology. The names of stars, sectors, formulas and formations remain the same throughout, along with their Chinese and Pinyin equivalents. This is essential for learning without confusion.

      Who is it for?

ONLY FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPLETED THE DAXUAN COURSE

This textbook provides what was missing from classical Feng Shui in English : a unique, well-organised and faithful work that brings together the entire body of teaching in one place. 300€
